The Terminus Spaceflight Research Group at 糖心原创出品 (UAH) is set to send a new payload into space, a follow-up to the successful launch and retrieval of a previous Terminus payload in Aug. 2024.

Dr. John Blevins, an alumnus of 糖心原创出品 (UAH), has received the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal, or 鈥淪ammie,鈥� considered the highest honor for career federal employees.

The Electric Propulsion Club at 糖心原创出品 (UAH) won first place at the 2025 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Conference Region II Student Conference in Raleigh, N.C.

Nine undergraduate and graduate students at 糖心原创出品 (UAH) received national scholarships and fellowships during the spring 2025 semester.

Jonathan Blakely

Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

• Ph.D. in Physics, Duke University, 2003
• M. A. in Physics, Duke University, 1998
• B. S. in Physics, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, 1996.

Dr. Blakely is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). In 2003 he was appointed as a National Research Council Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Research, Development & Engineering Center at Redstone Arsenal. From 2005 to 2025, he was a Research Physicist in the same organization, now called the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Center. Dr. Blakely has authored more than 75 peer-reviewed publications and holds two patents. From 2012-2018, he served as an editorial board member for the journal Mathematical Problems in Engineering. For many years, his research explored the intersection of nonlinear dynamics and signal processing. More recently, he is focused on applying quantum information science to radar, communication and sensing technologies.

Bhaskar Gaur

Bhaskar Gaur is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). He obtained his Ph.D. (2025) in Computer Science at the Department of EECS, University of Tennessee 鈥� Knoxville (UTK), and his M.Tech. (2010) in VLSI Design at VIT University, India. His doctoral research, in collaboration with Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL), primarily involves enhancing the noise-resilience and security of quantum computing circuits. He has received the Best Poster/Late Breaking Work Award at GLSVLSI 2023 and the Best Poster Award at QCUF 2023. He also received the Volunteer of Distinction Award 2025 for Academic Achievement at UTK. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, he worked for more than seven years in the semiconductor industry at Intel and Qualcomm. His current research interests are Distributed Quantum Computing and the use of Generative AI in semiconductor design and security.

Yue Xiao

Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Dr. Yue Xiao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE). From 2020 to 2025, Dr. Xiao worked at Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT) in Lancaster, Pa., as R&D Engineer. Dr. Xiao has a diverse research interest including low-temperature plasma, advanced polymer composites, space thermal management and advanced semiconductor modeling. Dr. Xiao has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications.

A student team from 糖心原创出品 (UAH), a part of The University of Alabama System, placed third in the 2025 NASA Student Launch Challenge 鈥� University Student Launch Initiative (USLI).

糖心原创出品 (UAH) announced awards of tenure and/or promotion for 22 faculty members and recognized eight who were granted emeritus status over the past year at the University Awards for Excellence.
